You bring the rooms.

Start with your room types, budget and what needs to stay. Build a coordinated brief for the furniture, wood finishes and upholstery, then approve the proposed selections before ordering. Use the same design direction across repeat rooms, with adjustments for different layouts.

These are starting scopes, not pre-certified furniture sets. Final models, quantities, finishes, suitability, lead times and any design-service fees are confirmed in your proposal. Furniture packages do not include construction, flooring, electrical work, beds or mattresses unless expressly quoted. Delivery, assembly, installation and removal are separate scope items to confirm.

Compare seating for the room

Start the seating part of your package with a lounge chair, a high-back chair or a sofa. Check each model’s footprint and upholstery alongside the beds, bedside tables and other casegoods in your room plan. The senior living furniture guides by state help organize the wider project brief.

Compare the space each seating choice takes

Overall dimensions make the seating shortlist concrete. This comparison uses the Careful Spaces catalogue dimensions checked on September 10, 2026. The downloadable dataset includes the 35 products with numeric width, depth and height; other models still need a dimensioned specification.

Compare overall furniture size
ModelW × D × H, inchesRectangle, sq ft
Alessi Lounge Chair25.5 × 24 × 30.254.25
Edmund Lounge Chair31.5 × 29 × 326.34
Harsdorf Lounge Chair28 × 28.75 × 325.59
Harsdorf Lounge Chair (High Back)27.5 × 30.75 × 39.755.87
Hodge Lounge Chair33.5 × 31.5 × 30.57.33
Horace Sofa Bed (Queen)77 × 36.5 × 3219.52

Four chairs make the difference visible. Four Alessi chair rectangles total 17.00 square feet; four Hodge rectangles total 29.31 square feet, a difference of 12.31 square feet before tables, chair spacing or circulation. Draw the whole grouping around its intended conversations and movement routes. The smaller rectangle alone does not establish the better seat for your residents.

A high back changes more than height. The Harsdorf standard chair is 28 inches wide and 28.75 inches deep. The high-back version is slightly narrower at 27.5 inches, but deeper at 30.75 inches. Keep the exact model on the room schedule. For sleeper seating, request the fully opened footprint as well as the closed dimensions shown here.

Take the shortlist to sample review with three unanswered measurements: usable seat width, seat height and seat depth. Record the upholstery and cleaning instructions alongside them, then review the sample with the people who will use the room.

How the pieces come together

You do not need a finished design to start. “Help me choose” is a valid brief.

  1. Share the room typesTell us how many bedrooms and suites you are updating, their dimensions, and which existing pieces you want to retain.
  2. Agree on a coordinated directionBring headboard finishes, storage pieces, fabrics and seating into one proposed palette. Request physical samples before approving colour matches.
  3. Approve the furniture scheduleReview itemised selections, dimensions, quantities and costs by room type. A pilot room can help you evaluate the plan before a wider rollout; availability and cost are confirmed separately.
  4. Plan the rolloutConfirm lead times, delivery access and any installation requirements. If rooms stay occupied, include your phasing and access restrictions in the brief.

Before you start

Can we keep some of our existing furniture?

Yes—include the pieces to retain, their dimensions and finish details in your brief. The proposed package can focus on replacements and additions instead of assuming every room starts empty.

Will every item have exactly the same finish?

A coordinated room does not require every piece to be identical. Request a consistent palette and compare actual samples; similarly named finishes from different ranges are not proof of an exact match.

Do we need to pick individual products first?

No. Choose the package scope and describe your rooms. Selecting products from the catalogue is optional. You can ask for help with the overall direction and review proposed pieces together.

Can we remodel one floor at a time?

Include your preferred phases and room counts in the request. Delivery timing, storage, repeat-order availability and any installation support need to be confirmed before the programme is agreed.
